Today I ran a 5k. I actually ran it pretty well. Most of the run was flat with a slight decline and then you turned around and that nice little downhill became a nice little uphill. Didn’t see that coming. I ran the first mile around 9:30 and realized when I saw the mile marker that that was way too fast…lol. I slowed mile 2 to a little over a 10 minute pace and finished with around the same pace. I was pretty stoked. My runs haven’t been that good lately so this one felt awesome. I am sure I will be sore tomorrow and as I sit here and watch football all I want to eat is pizza. That and wings oh and maybe a breadstick or three. Resistance might be futile but I am trying to prevail 🙂
I feel like there should be a meal planning for dummy’s handbook. I have tried and while I am totally a rock star at making lists, the planning and executing actual meals never really happens. Moving to a new state and starting new jobs has put a serious hurt on our finances. We had to revisit the amount we were spending weekly for food and the number was crazy. I love to cook why are we spending so much on things I could make. I know its because after work I can say I will cook but depending on how my day goes my will in the kitchen goes right out the window. But I have decided that if can just plan one day to get all of the prep and cooking completed we can totally have yummy meals for the week. So I am planning a big shop today and a big cook. Bring on the granola bars, breakfast wraps, cut up veggies…etc.
Tennis. I love it. It’s my new passion. I had only played twice before starting it up this summer and I am hooked. And what is fun is after watching Serena play I totally think that in my head I look like this.

I also have started following the idea of intuitive eating. Today wasn’t the best. I kind of just ate cause I was bored. Actually I didn’t kind of eat cause of boredom…I ate because of boredom..lol. Candy corn and a piece of mint chocolate didn’t stand a chance.
Day 2 of training. Same run as the previous one. Warm up 5 minutes. 8 reps of 170 yards running, then 250 yards walking. Finish with 5m cool down. Oh and then fried frog legs. Yep. It’s going to be an interesting evening.
Update on the run. Yeah so I realize that I sprint for my 170 yard runs. I am not sure if that is how you are supposed to approach this program. But when I hear the voice say “start run now” I run like I am being chased by a large animal. And I get mad if I slow down for the next sprint..lol. So to rationalize this in my brain I have decided that when I am only doing the short runs those will be sprints and I will treat this as if I was interval training. I will have to revisit this tactic when I start to get into my real runs but for now I am running like the wind. Or a really strong breeze.
Oh and fried frog legs really just taste like fried chicken wings. Except you get tarter sauce and that makes everything taste good.
Today is the first day of my new 10k training program. Zero to 10k in 10 weeks. Warm up 5 minutes. 8 reps of 170 yards running, then 250 yards walking. Finish with 5m cool down. I will be running after work. In TX. In the summer. The air is kind of chewy and my breathing is kind of crappy. Nice.
Recap from first run last night. It was actually kind of nice. I mean it was still 97 degrees, but there was a breeze and it wasn’t has heavy outside as it has been. The run went pretty well. I covered 2.47 including warm up and cool down. The run portion was 1.87 miles in around 21 minutes. When I was running a lot my pace (on a good day) was around 8.50 so to come from that and now be looking at around 11 minute miles is tough but I am trying to take the approach that you have to start somewhere. Running, healthy eating, reducing debt…all starts with a step and you have to start with one to get going. Looking to the end without seeing the beginning and middle is where I had been making my mistakes. Start with the beginning and you will eventually get to the end.
So you want to run a marathon in Dec. 2104? That is the text that I got over the weekend. Actually my boyfriend got the text from my brother- in- law. So I decided what the heck I’ll throw my hat in the ring and do it. To aid in my craziness I am going to keep track of my runs. So 3 times a week for now I will be running and then when I can increase my mileage it will be more. Let the fun begin.
